STAR 6 Memorial Run A Huge Success

Nearly 500 Attended the Inaugural Event To Assist Families of Fallen Officers 

The STAR 6 Foundation would like to thank every participant and volunteer that came out last Sunday morning, May 23 for our inaugural memorial run. We had nearly 500 participants that either ran or walked the 10K, 5K or 1 Mile…from strollers to dogs, from 77 year olds to 6 year olds and from youth soccer teams to running clubs and gyms. We truly appreciate the support and participation!

We would also like to thank Speed Racing for helping manage the event, Synergy Race Timing for timing the race, and California State Parks for taking care of the memorial site and offering a great venue for our runners.

Overall, we think the event went very well, but as with anything we realize there were some glitches. We will be working on this and would like your constructive input to make this event better next year.

Here are some things we have identified internally that we need to look at for next year’s race;

• Better PA system or placed in different location
• Double the size of 5K pre-registration check in
• Different colored bibs to easily identify 10K, 5K and 1 Mile participants 
• Consolidate age divisions and issue awards for overall top male and female for 10K and 5K races and Include youth awards
• STAR 6 Memorial Run participant medals for all runners
• Encourage participants to create teams. Custom shirts will be given to teams with their team name on the back
